Through grant funding from Illinois Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities, teachers from the Southland Chicago region and teacher candidates from Governors State University are developing regionally focused lesson plans that align with current best practices and an aim towards civic engagement.

Southland Lesson Plans

These lesson plans demonstrate a local or regional focus and can be implemented in U.S. History, Civics, Economics, and Geography courses. The lessons are arranged by the typical periodization for a high school level U.S. History course taken from the Digital Inquiry Group.
